Honoring Christ In The Psalms-Day 1

Our Jesus, experienced the full spectrum of human experience and emotion while on earth. If we are to truly become “Christ-like,” we too are going to have to be equipped for all that life may bring. I believe it is the Psalms that prepare us with such a “strength of soul.”

Each day in this study, we will ask you to explore a particular genre of poetic writing in the Psalms. We will ask for you to fellowship with the Lord in prayer over different Psalms, and we will ask you to pay very close attention to how each particular Psalm targets, shapes, enriches, and empowers different places in your faith. Consider also why each prayer is absolutely necessary to shaping the faith of God’s church as a whole.

Praying through the Psalms is one of the main ways that we become like Jesus! Today, feel free to explore the Psalms of Lament (Songs of Questioning, Doubt, and Sorrow):

Communal Laments: Psalm 12, 44, 58, 60, 74, 79, 80, 83, 85, 89, 90, 94, 123, 126, 129.
Individual Laments: Psalm 3, 4, 5, 7, 9-10, 13, 14, 17, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 31, 36, 39, 40:12-17, 41, 42-43, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 59, 61, 64, 70, 71, 77, 86, 89, 120, 139, 141, 142.
